A pet is coming to stay in your home. Use this simple checklist to prepare, stay organized, and help the stay go smoothly.

Meet & Greet

  • Discuss the pet’s routine, behaviour, feeding, medication, and special needs as applicable.
  • Ask about allergies, fears, triggers, and how the pet gets along with other animals and people.
  • Request emergency contact and veterinarian information.
  • Ask how often the pet parent would like updates and photos. This can be shared through the platform.
  • Confirm what the pet parent will bring: food, medication, leash, bed, crate, or toys.
  • Pet-proof your home, check for escape risks, and plan where the pet will sleep, eat, and rest.
  • If you have other pets or people at home, make sure the pet parent knows and plan introductions.
  • Confirm drop-off and pick-up dates and times.

At Drop-Off

  • Check that everything you need was dropped off: food, medication, supplies, and comfort items.
  • Confirm feeding and medication instructions in writing.
  • Confirm the pick-up date and time with the pet parent.
  • Give the pet time to settle in calmly after the pet parent leaves.

During the Stay

  • Follow the pet’s usual routine as closely as possible.
  • Provide fresh water at all times and feed as directed.
  • Give medication exactly as instructed.
  • Supervise time with other pets and never leave them alone together.
  • Provide daily exercise, play, and companionship.
  • Monitor appetite, bathroom habits, and behaviour, and report anything unusual right away.
  • Take clear photos and share updates with the pet parent through Hello Marshy.

At Pick-Up

  • Return all food, medication, supplies, and belongings.
  • Share notes on feeding, behaviour, and anything the pet parent should know.
  • Send a final update through Hello Marshy.
  • Report any health, behavioural, or safety concerns to the pet parent.

Hello Marshy Emergency Support

Keep all booking messages and updates on Hello Marshy for support.

Support is available seven days a week from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. We may be able to assist outside these hours, but after-hours support cannot be guaranteed.

Pet parents should provide their sitter with emergency contact details and clear instructions on what to do in an emergency.
