House sitting checklist
Your house sitter is booked. Use this simple checklist to prepare your home and your pet for the stay.
Meet & Greet
- Confirm your address and entry instructions with your sitter before the stay.
- Walk through entry, keys, codes, and alarm systems.
- Go over your pet’s routine, behaviour, feeding, medication, and special needs as applicable.
- Show where pet supplies and cleaning products are kept, and where your sitter will sleep.
- Explain household duties: mail, plants, garbage day, and any quirks with appliances or utilities.
- Share your emergency contact details and your veterinarian’s information, and explain what to do in an emergency.
- Agree on how often you would like updates and photos. These can be shared through the platform.
- Point out household rules, off-limit areas, security instructions, and any escape risks.
Before the Stay
- Leave clear written instructions for your pet and your home.
- Stock up on pet food, medication, litter, and cleaning supplies.
- Prepare a clean, comfortable space for your sitter with fresh linens.
- Secure or put away valuables and anything private.
- Make sure your pet’s ID tag and microchip contact details are up to date.
- Leave spare keys, test any codes, and share your expected return time.
- Let a neighbour or your building know a sitter will be staying, if needed.
During & After the Stay
- Keep your phone reachable in case your sitter has questions.
- Watch for updates and photos through Hello Marshy.
- Let your sitter know right away if your return time changes.
- Do a walkthrough when you return and read your sitter’s notes.
- Report any concerns through Hello Marshy, and leave a review once the booking is complete.

Pet parents should provide their sitter with emergency contact details and clear instructions on what to do in an emergency.
