FAQs
Frequently asked questions about Hello Marshy
Hello Marshy is a pet sitting marketplace that helps pet parents find trusted local pet sitters for boarding, house sitting, pet daycare, drop in visits, walks and exercise, and pet taxi services. Launched in the Greater Toronto Area, Hello Marshy is starting locally with plans to expand to more cities across Canada and beyond.
Hello Marshy makes it easier to find pet care that fits your pet, your schedule, and your routine. Whether you need overnight pet boarding, in-home house sitting, daytime pet daycare, quick drop in visits, dog walking and exercise, or pet transportation, the platform connects pet parents with trusted sitters offering flexible care options.
Unlike other pet sitting platforms, Hello Marshy does not take a cut from sitter earnings. Sitters keep 100% of what they earn, so they can stay focused on providing pets with the care and attention they deserve. Pet parents pay only the sitter’s listed rate plus standard Stripe payment processing fees.
Hello Marshy supports more than just dogs and cats because we believe every pet deserves thoughtful, reliable care. Each sitter profile clearly shows which types of pets they care for, making it easier to find the right match for dogs, cats, rabbits, birds, reptiles, fish, and other companion animals. We also offer Marshy Cares booking protection as an optional add on at checkout for extra peace of mind.
Start by entering your city and the type of care you need, then browse sitter profiles by distance, service, and availability. Each profile includes photos, a bio, the kinds of pets they care for, rates for each service, and reviews from completed bookings on the platform.
Once you find a sitter who feels like the right fit, you can message them through Hello Marshy to share your pet’s routine, ask questions, or arrange a meet and greet. When you are both ready, you can confirm the booking and pay securely through Stripe. Your chat remains available throughout the booking, making it easy to coordinate updates and any details that come up.
After the booking ends, both the pet parent and sitter can leave a review. This helps build trust over time and ensures every review comes from a real completed booking.
Yes. Every sitter who offers services on Hello Marshy must complete a two step verification before their profile can appear in search or accept bookings. Step one is identity verification using a government issued photo ID matched to a live selfie. Step two is a Canadian criminal record check run through a licensed background screening partner.
The verification fee is a one time payment at checkout, not a recurring charge, and it covers the cost of running the background check with the screening provider. The fee amount is shown before you pay.
Experienced sitters who already have a proven record on Rover or Wag can skip the verification fee by linking their existing profile so the Hello Marshy team can review their history. After bookings on the platform, pet parents can also leave public reviews, and those reviews come only from real completed bookings rather than from anonymous visitors.
Hello Marshy supports a wide range of pets, not just dogs and cats. Depending on the sitter, care may be available for dogs, cats, small animals, fish, reptiles and amphibians, and birds.
Each sitter profile clearly shows the types of pets they care for, making it easier to find the right match for your pet, their routine, and the kind of care you need. You can also explore each sitter’s services, rates, and availability before booking.
Enter your city and the type of care you need on the Hello Marshy homepage or search page. You can then browse nearby sitters and view photos, a short bio, the kinds of pets they care for, and starting rates for each service.
You can narrow your search by distance, service, price, pet type, and availability. When a sitter looks like a good fit, open their profile to read reviews, check their cancellation policy, and see what services they offer.
If you want to learn more, you can send a message before booking to ask questions, share your pet’s routine, or see if it feels like the right match. There is no cost or commitment to reach out. You only pay once a booking is confirmed through the platform.
Yes. We always recommend a meet and greet when booking with a sitter for the first time. It is a good opportunity to go over your pet’s routine, feeding, medication, behaviour, and any other important care details before the booking begins. Many Hello Marshy sitters offer meet and greets, often at no extra cost, depending on the service.
If it does not feel like the right fit, you can continue your search and message another sitter. You only pay once a booking is confirmed.
Many Hello Marshy sitters are comfortable caring for pets with extra needs, including senior pets, pets with anxiety, pets on medication, and pets with more detailed daily routines. When browsing sitter profiles, you can look for experience with the type of care your pet needs, whether that includes medication, mobility support, special feeding instructions, or a more structured routine.
When requesting a booking, you can share important care details such as your pet’s schedule, medication instructions, feeding amounts, behaviour triggers, and anything else the sitter should know. This helps you find a sitter who feels like the right fit and helps your pet receive more personalized care.
For pets with more specific needs, we always recommend arranging a meet and greet before the booking begins. It gives you a chance to walk through your pet’s routine, answer questions, and make sure everyone feels comfortable before confirming the stay.
The cost of booking pet care on Hello Marshy depends on the sitter, the service you choose, your location, your pet type, and the level of care needed. Sitters set their own rates, and you can view pricing directly on each profile before booking. Boarding and house sitting are priced per night, drop in visits and pet daycare are priced per visit, walks and exercise are priced per walk, and pet taxi services are priced based on distance.
Pet parents pay the sitter’s listed rate plus standard Stripe payment processing fees. Hello Marshy does not charge pet parents an extra service fee, booking fee, or platform fee, and sitters keep 100 percent of what they earn.
Before you confirm a booking, you will see the full price clearly laid out, including any additional pet fees and payment processing fees. Marshy Cares booking protection is also available at checkout as an optional add on for extra peace of mind during your booking.
Yes, Hello Marshy supports short notice pet care bookings. Depending on sitter availability, you may be able to book a pet sitter for same day drop in visits, walks and exercise, pet taxi services, pet daycare, boarding, or house sitting.
To find a sitter quickly, search for the service you need, browse nearby sitters, and send a message with your dates, your pet’s details, and any important care notes. Reaching out to a few sitters can help you find last minute pet care faster.
You can also expand your search area or adjust your timing to see more available options. Whether you need same day pet care or a last minute pet sitter, Hello Marshy makes it easier to find trusted local support.
Hello Marshy is a pet sitting platform built differently from Rover and other pet care marketplaces. One of the biggest differences is that Hello Marshy lets sitters keep 100 percent of what they earn, rather than taking a percentage from every booking.
Hello Marshy also keeps pricing simpler for pet parents. There are no extra platform fees or service fees added by Hello Marshy. Pet parents pay the sitter’s listed rate plus standard Stripe payment processing fees.
Another key difference is flexibility. Hello Marshy allows pet parents and sitters to communicate in the way that works best for them during the booking process.
Hello Marshy also supports more than just dogs and cats. Depending on the sitter, care may be available for dogs, cats, small animals, fish, reptiles and amphibians, and birds. Each sitter profile clearly shows which pets they care for, and Marshy Cares booking protection is available at checkout as an optional add on.
Each Hello Marshy service is designed to support different pet care needs. Depending on the service you book, care may include overnight stays, daytime care, feeding, fresh water, litter or potty breaks, walks and exercise, playtime, medication support, and updates during the booking.
What is included can vary by sitter and service. Some sitters may also choose to help with small home tasks while you are away, such as watering plants or checking in on your space. You can review each sitter’s profile and message them before booking to see what is included and ask any specific questions.
This makes it easier to choose the right pet care service for your pet, your schedule, and your routine. A free meet and greet is also a good way to walk through the details in person before anything is confirmed, so both you and the sitter feel aligned on feeding, medication, and any routines your pet depends on.
Marshy Cares is an optional booking protection program available at checkout for eligible bookings made and paid for through Hello Marshy. It is designed to help with eligible costs that arise during a confirmed booking.
Coverage applies after the first $100, which is the pet parent’s responsibility, and after any other available coverage has been used where applicable, such as the pet parent’s own insurance or the sitter’s insurance. If eligible costs remain after that, Marshy Cares can cover up to $750 per booking.
Eligible costs may include veterinary care for injuries that happen during the booking, additional care required as a direct result of the incident, and other reasonable out of pocket expenses directly related to the incident. Requests must be submitted to Hello Marshy Support within 72 hours of the booking ending, along with any supporting documents needed for review.
As Hello Marshy grows, Marshy Cares is expected to grow with it, with plans to strengthen and expand the program over time.
Hello Marshy does not have a mobile app at this time. For now, pet parents and sitters can use the Hello Marshy web app to manage bookings, messages, and their accounts.
Users can also enable email notifications and SMS notifications to stay updated.
We plan to launch an iOS and Android mobile app in the future as Hello Marshy grows, making it even easier to manage pet care on the go.
Hello Marshy is currently available in the Greater Toronto Area, our first active service region. We are launching across the GTA first, with plans to expand to more cities across Canada and a future goal of global expansion.
Hello Marshy is built to make trusted pet care easier to find, with services including pet sitting, boarding, house sitting, pet daycare, drop in visits, walks and exercise, and pet taxi services. As we grow, we will continue launching in more cities across Canada.
If Hello Marshy is not available in your area yet, you can join the waitlist or share your city through our website to be among the first to know when we launch near you.
If you want to become a pet sitter on Hello Marshy, the first step is to complete the sitter application. You will share your name and contact information, your service area, the pet care services you want to offer, and the types of pets you are comfortable caring for.
To help keep Hello Marshy a trusted pet sitting marketplace, sitters must complete identity verification and a Canadian criminal record check during onboarding. A one time verification fee applies and covers the background check. Experienced sitters with an established Rover or Wag profile may be eligible to have this fee waived by submitting their existing profile for review.
After verification and approval, you can choose a monthly or yearly sitter membership, connect your Stripe payout account, and publish your sitter profile. Early adopters receive 6 months of the standard plan free after verification, with no card charged until the trial period ends.
Hello Marshy takes pet sitter verification seriously. Every sitter must complete verification before they can offer pet care services or accept bookings on the platform.
One way sitters can verify is through Certn, which includes identity verification and a Canadian criminal background check.
Sitters with an established profile on platforms like Rover or Wag may be eligible for a different verification path. They must share their existing profile and still complete identity verification through Hello Marshy so their identity can be confirmed before approval.
This process helps create a more trusted experience for pet parents booking pet sitting, boarding, house sitting, pet daycare, drop in visits, walks and exercise, and pet taxi services through Hello Marshy.
